Dame Kate Harcourt
New Zealand | TV-Film-Theater Actor "Dame Kate is one of New Zealand's most loved actors and has appeared in a huge number of productions in a career that has spanned 40 years. In 1997 Dame Kate was made DNZM for her services to the theatre. She is a passionate heritage advocate and continues to carry on her and her late husband's mission to preserve and celebrate New Zealand heritage places. In the mid 1980s, the Westpac St James Theatre in Wellington faced the threat of demolition and through the establishment of The St James Campaign, that was led by Dame Kate's late husband Peter Harcourt enough support was generated to ensure the preservation of this now beautifully restored building. Dame Kate has two grown up children, Miranda and Gordon who have followed in their mother's footsteps and have their own successful careers in theatre, film and television". - http://www.historic.org.nz/NationalHeritageConference/conference_speakers.htm
"It's wonderful that New Zealand has been chosen as the starting point for the World March. I can only hope that its influence can be felt here first, particularly on the areas of child abuse and the abuse of women."
